The Official Launch: Nine Twenty Engineering & Manufacturing Franchise

Engineering, Manufacturing & Supply Chain Recruitment

The Official Launch: Nine Twenty Engineering & Manufacturing Franchise

 5th May 2017

I have worked in the recruitment industry since 2008, and whilst I immediately took to the role and the Industry as a whole, I was specifically in love with the manufacturing and engineering sector. I have placed hundreds of candidates across the sector over the past 9 years ranging from maintenance engineers, quality technicians and production operators to strategic heads of departments, general managers and managing directors and can genuinely say that I have enjoyed working with every single candidate and client.

After starting to see a shift in the recruitment sector around 2013, I recognised that recruitment as we knew it was changing.  More organisations now have large in-house recruitment teams, refer a friend schemes and of course increased use of Social Media platforms such as LinkedIn. This really made me think about my approach and I started to explore what skills and talents would be needed to be successful in recruitment in this new modern era.

My research concluded that recruiters must be specialists in their field (tick), have an excellent network (tick), give outstanding customer service to both clients and candidates (tick), be able to offer solutions around business as a whole (ah I didn't have that knowledge or experience) and should have expert knowledge in digital marketing and new technologies (uh oh...I was pretty prehistoric with this!)

I decided to start looking at companies who had more of an edge in terms of their offering and stumbled across Nine Twenty. They were a quirky IT recruitment firm who had innovative products and services and were already making strides within the digital space. They were embarking on a journey of growth and invited me to join to set up a manufacturing & engineering business. I took the plunge and joined in June 2015 and have never looked back. Don't get me wrong, at first I was cautious of these new products and new way of thinking, the culture of Nine Twenty was different to what I had been used to, it was fast paced, challenging and constantly changing. However, I soon got to grips with new ideas and realised the added value I could now give my clients was far more appealing, successful and credible than I had been used to. I started to fall in love with Nine Twenty and all the business stands for.

Over the past 2 years I have recruited an excellent team of real specialists in their field who are passionate, hardworking and genuinely understand and embrace this industry. With their support, we have been building our brand and making amazing headway in the Scottish Manufacturing & engineering sector. We have supported various businesses through growth and change and offered some creative solutions to help them overcome their problems. I truly could not be more proud of my team and how far we have come in the short space of time.

So what's all this about I hear you ask? Well I am about to embark on my next chapter and am excited, delighted and very proud to announce that I have franchised the Manufacturing & Engineering business from Nine Twenty and I am now Managing Director of my own business and completely in charge of my own destiny! This is an exciting journey for all at Nine Twenty as this too is a new venture for them with me being their first franchisee. I cannot thank the business enough for the support they have given me for the past 2 years along with the outstanding opportunity I have been given.

The Nine Twenty brand is growing and we will work tirelessly to ensure we are viewed as the absolute go to in our sectors. Our network across Manufacturing & Engineering, Technology, Digital and Finance makes us one of the strongest recruitment businesses in Scotland to support technical biased companies become more efficient. With industry 4.0 heading towards us, I believe we are in top position to support your needs in these changing times and I am excited to say it's our time to shine.

Last night I hosted an intimate launch night with some of my closest contacts who have supported me through my career. We had a great night with drinks and nibbles and I want to thank all those that came along and raised a glass to Nine Twenty Manufacturing & Engineering. I am so excited about our future and look forward to updating you on some interesting events we have planned for the rest of 2017 and beyond.

A huge thank you to Gordon Brown, Nine Twenty Founder, for all your support (along with all of his team) and a huge thank you to my talented and committed team Nick Beecroft, Gregg Swan and Louise Conway as I could not have moved forward this quickly without you all.

With all the uncertainty surrounding us across the globe, one thing I can be certain of and that is Nine Twenty Manufacturing & Engineering are an adaptable and innovative industry specialist who can support clients and candidates no matter what the future holds and I am looking forward to every minute of it!
