The Manufacturing Dinner for Scotland’s Manufacturing Business Leaders

 30th Oct 2017

Last week, Nine Twenty Engineering & Manufacturing co-hosted our first in a series of round table discussions in partnership with Optimum PPS and The Manufacturer publication.

Nine Twenty Manufacturing & Engineering - Manufacturing Dinner

We were delighted to welcome an intimate group of leaders from the Scottish manufacturing sector to Brian Maule at Le Chardon D’Or for an evening of dinner and drinks. On the agenda, an opportunity to discuss the future of digitalisation in the industry, and how it can help to drive competitiveness and productivity in the sector.

It was a brilliant night with some really spirited discussions and lively debates around skills, processes, leadership and cultures, and it was particularly interesting to hear how each business was planning to adapt to the new era ahead.

Our Managing Director Karen Stewart is extremely passionate about ensuring we have the skills we need for the future of manufacturing, and she is working closely with various initiatives on planning what those skills will look like and how we can develop our workforce accordingly. The round table was therefore a great opportunity to hear ideas from the group on how we can drive this forward.

Lee Ann Healy, Managing Partner of Optimum PPS said:

"As digital transformation sweeps the manufacturing sector, now more than ever a holistic approach to change across people, processes and systems is imperative.  Exploring these themes first-hand with manufacturing leaders gives us such valuable insight."

Henry Anson, Managing Director of The Manufacturer was the Chairperson for the evening and said:

"It was a fantastic evening with senior Scottish manufacturers discussing the digital future of the sector and ways to address the skills shortage."

We also had representatives from Distell, C&C, James Fisher Defence, Highland Spring, Havelock, RCP, HSSMI and Edwards Engineering present, and so got a real understanding of the challenges that different pockets within the manufacturing sector face and how they work to overcome them. We’re proud to say that our attendees left full of enthusiasm and ideas for working towards through towards the future in the industry.
