Engineering, Manufacturing & Supply Chain Recruitment

Meet our new Consultant, Nyomi O'Dowd

 21st Mar 2019

We’re proud to say that the Nine Twenty Manufacturing & Engineering team has grown again, and this month we welcomed Consultant Nyomi O'Dowd to the team.  We had  chat with Nyomi to find out how she’s settling into her new role.

Nyomi O'Dowd, Consultant at Nine Twenty Manufacturing & Engineering

Nyomi, tell us a little about your background before you joined the team at Nine Twenty?

I have been working in the wonderful world of recruitment for more than eight years now.  For my first three years I was an internal recruiter, before stepping things up a level and perusing my career in agency recruitment.  I have a real mixture of industry experience but over the past three years I’ve specialised in the Technology sector.

What attracted you to working with our team?

I had the pleasure of working for Nine Twenty before; in fact, Nine Twenty was the first agency role I had in recruitment.  An amazing opportunity recently presented itself for me to come back and take my career to a whole new level, with an exciting new challenge of joining the Manufacturing & Engineering team under Karen Stewart, with a new industry and sector for me to tap into.  Truth be told, I missed this crazy bunch and I am over the moon to be back with my Nine Twenty work family!

What does your role in the business involve?

My role as a 360 Consultant within the Manufacturing & Engineering team is actually very exciting!  I have been given a unique opportunity to build my own little business at Nine Twenty, with all the support I could ever ask for.  My role covers all aspects of recruitment with no restrictions on how far I can go.  I will look after Temporary and Permanent contracts, and my work will involve business development, winning new business and account management, as well as resource and delivery.

What is your focus over the next 3 months?

My focus over the next three months is to build my business, get familiar with my new market and begin to build relationships.

You have just completed your first few weeks, did it go and what have you been up to?

Throughout my first and second week back at Nine Twenty I had sent two candidate shortlists across to two separate clients and “placed” my first Temp - exciting stuff!  I’ve been a busy bee; I’ve had candidate and client meetings and have been working live jobs.  My head feels like it might explode with all the knowledge I’ve gained over the past few weeks already!

Tell us more about who you are out of work?

My friends always say I’m a social butterfly.  I like to have lost of fun in everything I do, and I’m definitely outgoing.  Some might say I’m loud but I’m just energetic and love to create a buzzy atmosphere and enjoyable environment for myself and everyone around me.  I would describe myself as a passionate and caring person, I love being successful and I also love to see others around me achieving – it’s what drives me!
