Nine Twenty Engineering & Manufacturing are delighted to be working exclusively with our Industry Leading Hearing Aid & Accessorises client, Oticon Ltd – Part of the Demant Group Company who are a world-leading hearing healthcare group that offers solutions and services to help people with hearing loss connect and communicate with the world around them. They have been developing innovative technologies and know-how to help improve people’s hearing and health for more than a century, covering every aspect, from hearing devices, hearing implants and diagnostics equipment and services for hearing care all over the world.

Oticon Ltd are now looking to appoint a Business / Process Improvement Engineer in this newly created role at their Facility in Hamilton. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will have a wide scope working on a variety of areas in the business and with them will bring a strong knowledge working within a Process Driven & Continuous Improvement environment - having strong communication skills is key. The successful candidate will have a ‘Can Do’ attitude, able to work as part of a team & bring an innovative mindset to fit in with Oticon’s values.

Responsibilities are but not limited to:

  • Identify improvement opportunities, implement & supervise improvement projects using GEMBA techniques
  • Conduct Root Cause Investigations
  • Select & prioritise Operational Excellence Projects
  • Improve the culture and competencies in relation to efficiency & continuous improvement through Lean Six Sigma Trainings. coaching & projects
  • Lead work streams & small teams to conduct rapid process review projects
  • Review, document & change processes & identify areas of improvement
  • Assist in developing productivity targets
  • Design layouts & solutions that align with facility operational requirements
  • Build strong relationships with the Operational Team whilst promoting teamwork and collaboration across teams whilst managing aspects of change across a diverse set of stakeholder communities

Skills required:

  • Coming from a medical device background is highly desirable but other highly regulated industries would be considered such as electronics
  • Knowledge of ISO13485 Standards is desirable
  • Excellent technical operations knowledge with strong experience & proven track record of implementing a positive difference across cost savings, productivity increases, process changes etc.
  • Track record of successfully working with and influencing a range of stakeholders, including management
  • A passion for Continuous Improvement, with an absolute focus on delivering successful outcomes
  • To be a natural communicator and coordinator; juggling the need for pace at a local level with recognising the corporate processes that are a requirement 
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.
  • Educated to degree level with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
