Control and Automation Engineer



Nine Twenty's Global drinks manufacturing client are looking for a Control and Automation Engineer due to growth and transformation.

You will have excellent Project Management skills along with engineering experience and knowledge of appropriate tools and techniques. Be able to provide innovative solutions to Manufacturing projects or issues with specific reference to Control, Instrumentation and Software projects. You must have analytical techniques to measure and improve performance standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively manage safety to company, group and national standards
  • Project Management from commissioning to handover
  • Support various Manufacturing Industry 4.0 initiatives
  • Provide technical assistance and training
  • Specify, design, purchase and supervise the installation of instrumentation and control systems
  • Provide advice to engineering and operations managers on new or modified installations
  • Support implementation of Manufacturing Control and Automation policies and drive compliance
  • New systems/methods of working are pro-actively sought/developed to improve the project execution process and are implemented across all Manufacturing project functions

Skills Required:

  • Degree in Electrical/ Electronic or relevant engineering or software discipline with at least 3 years’ experience within a FMCG environment
  • PLC (preferably Rockwell or Siemens), Process Control Systems and automation systems and their implementation
  • Practical experience in control system design, procurement, installation and commissioning
  • Working understanding/experience of software/digital tools that support shop floor operations such as performance dashboards, collaboration tools, quality data management
  • Experience in hazardous area design, installation, and commissioning
  • Awareness of servers, data communications, networking infrastructure and switching and their role in a Manufacturing environment
  • Experience of management of contractors and in-house resource to deliver projects


Skills Desirable:

  • Chartered or working towards Chartership
  • Experience in Functional Safety systems and its application relating to both machinery and process safety
  • Qualified in SIL Assessment techniques would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of other branches of engineering and their interface with each other
  • Competent in the use high level programming languages as well as experience using relational databases
  •  Knowledge of cloud and edge infrastructure would be beneficial
  • Experience of Cyber Security with relation to Industrial Control Systems
  • Working knowledge of wider Rockwell based software packages
