Nine Twenty Engineering are delighted to be working on a very exciting opportunity for a qualified Controls Systems Engineer to work with a global leader in process manufacturing. My client are based in Ayrshire and due to continued investment on their plant, they are looking for an experienced Controls Systems Engineer to join their electrical engineering team to provide hands on support to the electrical department in fault finding and PLC principles and to take a leading role in fault finding and improvement or upgrading projects.

The right candidate will be a flexible, highly proactive engineer with a self-motivated approach as well as having excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

To be considered for this role you must have the following skills and experience:

  • To provide programming and software support to the production unit.
  • To assist with the installation, commissioning and testing of all onsite equipment as directed by the Electrical Engineering Manager.
  • To provide hands on advice, support & training to maintenance and production departments.
  • To troubleshoot and fault find in processes with an innovative approach to problem solving.
  • To ensure that all related tasks are conducted in a safe working manner and that any incidents, accidents, hazards or near misses are duly reported.
  • To adhere and comply with the company safety systems as detailed in the health and safety manual.
  • To attend any meetings required as part of the normal duties, including occasional trips to continental Europe.
  • To demonstrate professional competence and development by keeping skills up to date and in providing evidence of continuing professional development.
  • To implement and maintain the Company Safety Systems as detailed in the Health and Safety Manual.
  • To implement and maintain the Company Quality Systems as detailed in the Quality Manual.

Skills required for this role:

  • Advanced knowledge of PLC (Siemens S5/S7).
  • Working knowledge of PROFIBUS.
  • Advanced knowledge of SCADA (InTouch, Wonderware, RS View etc.).
  • Competent use of E-Plan.
  • Relevant experience within a process orientated environment.
