The North British Distillery company are one of the UKs largest grain Whisky producers. The company is steeped in heritage and they are extremely proud of their history and core company values.

They have an opportunity for an Engineering Manager to be based in their facility in Muirhall. The primary focus of the role will be to lead the Engineering Team to maximise the availability of all assets, maintaining or improving their original performance capability for as long as reasonably practicable, managing costs and resources to within agreed budgetary constraints.

Reporting to the Customer Logistics & Warehousing Director, key responsibilities will include

  • Developing and implementing a Muirhall Maintenance Strategy that delivers cost-effective ownership and availability of our asset base through a mix of internal and third-party resources.
  • Ensuring visibility and understanding of the Maintenance Strategy across the engineering team, liaising with the Engineering Supervisor to plan and prioritise the workload of all maintenance personnel.
  • Ensuring the robust collection and analysis of availability and operating data on key assets through the Company’s Maintenance Management System (MAXIMO) to demonstrate that performance standards are being achieved and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Providing effective line management for the Muirhall engineering team, regularly engaging with direct reports to monitor performance, encouraging development opportunities and inspiring day to day excellence.
  • Continuously looking to improve maintenance techniques and commercial practices employed, striving towards the achievement of best-in-class performance in engineering standards.

 

To succeed in this role, the following skills, attributes and experience are required:

  • A relevant degree or equivalent qualification
  • IOSH Managing Safely and NEBOSH certificate qualifications
  • Demonstrable experience in leading, managing and motivating teams in a manufacturing or FMCG environment is essential
  • Ability to prioritise responsibilities for themselves and their team when under pressure 
  • Demonstrated effective systematic problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with external contractors to ensure that all Engineering work is properly planned and coordinated
  • A passion for high quality workmanship and drive for better standards.
