A brilliant opportunity for a Group Project Manager to be responsible for the end-to-end management and delivery of multiple large-scale projects and requires the ability to build strong internal and external relationships with people at all levels of the business.  Sustainability is at the heart of everything they do and as part of the Group’s ambition to achieve Net Zero by 2040, many projects will centre around providing their products in an environmentally sustainable way.

This role will involve leadership of cross-functional project teams in multiple locations, providing active and dedicated project management leadership to a range of projects including upgrades to production lines to meet the needs of our customers and consumers, initiatives to decarbonise operations, preparing for the implementation of a Deposit Return Scheme and supporting Engineering and Manufacturing Operational Excellence.

Main duties:

  • Implement and maintain strong project governance including defining roles, responsibilities, and accountability across the project team
  • Prepare a robust business case for each project which clearly defines the project scope, benefits, cost, and timelines from feasibility to completion
  • Prepare, co-ordinate and lead tenders including identification and assessment of value engineering options and appraisal of tender submissions
  • Manage projects throughout the full project lifecycle, ensuring that the project is delivered on time and within budget
  • Provide timely and informative progress updates to key stakeholders to report progress against programme and budget and to enable robust decision making throughout the project
  • Build positive internal and external relationships and effectively motivate and manage project teams to ensure that projects are delivered successfully
  • Ensure that all resources for projects are sourced and managed throughout projects effectively, including people, systems, materials etc.
  • Identify and manage project risks and opportunities, plan and implement appropriate mitigations, assign risk owners and effectively manage issues that arise throughout the project
  • Lead any change management processes effectively throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that all key stakeholders buy into and implement changes successfully
  • Evaluate projects, following implementation, to capture lessons learned, and ensure project benefits are fully realised

Key skills and requirements:

  • Relevant project management training such as PRINCE2 or Association for Project Management (APM) 
  • Extensive Project Management experience
  • Experience working within FMCG or manufacturing sectors highly desirable
  • Additional experience in other disciplines e.g., engineering, construction, operations, supply chain, finance would be advantageous
  • Experience of using information for management and decision-making purposes
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Experience of organising and chairing meetings
  • Experience in managing multiple cross-functional projects simultaneously
  • Proven risk management skills
  • Experience of change management and the use of skills to facilitate change
  • Knowledge and experience of delivering quality improvement initiatives e.g. the ability to analyse and redesign business processes to make best use of the people involved and enabling this with new technology as appropriate
  • Experience of co-ordinating all Project Phases including Initiation, Design, Implementation, Transition and Support
  • Evidence of excellent communication and negotiation/influencing skills as part of complex and potentially sensitive negotiations   
  • Effective leadership skills and proven ability to lead and create a clear common purpose amongst the members of the project team
  • Good knowledge of methodologies and techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling projects
  • Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures and effective financial management skills
  • The ability to find ways of solving or pre-empting problems
  • Excellent Microsoft Office application skills, including Project (or similar)
