Nine Twenty are delighted to be working exclusively with our progressive and positively disruptive Edinburgh based client, who are market leaders in the  British Energy sector. They are looking to hire a very ambitious and tenacious Head of Business development to take responsibility for all Business Development, Direct sales, Account management and Marketing function.

The organisation are a leading demand response business; they provide rapid access to response and reserve energy and they deliver this with much lower cost and much lower emissions than conventional power stations. As a business they have pioneered their industry and they lead the aggregated demand-side reserve services for electricity system balancing, and continues to lead this sector in volume, technical capability and innovation. They create this reserve by aggregating small generators and flexible electrical loads into capacity groups that are made available to the UK’s Distribution Network Operators for short periods when the national or local electricity system is under stress. These generation assets and electrical loads are owned by third party industrial and commercial businesses that partner with them for market access and service provision. 


About the role

As the Head of Business Development, you will lead the sales strategy development, account management and be responsible for delivery. You will play a fundamental role in developing future growth and provide vision, direction and leadership. You will be based within my clients Edinburgh office, but will spend much of your time visiting clients, partners and other market stakeholders. You may also need to attend conferences, trade fairs and exhibitions. Your job will involve travel in both the UK and potentially abroad.

Core duties will include:

  • Contribution to strategy development, tactics, sales plans and profit targets.
  • Delivery of sales by developing relationships with Energy Partners and Resellers.
  • Helping the business understand and influence regulatory and policy matters.
  • Identification of and reporting on business opportunities in target markets.
  • Leading commercial and contractual negotiations.
  • Taking responsibility for tender responses and submissions.
  • Acting as an ambassador and role model for the business.
  • Increasing market share in existing markets and maximise new business development opportunities.
  • Achieving targets for revenue, profitability and sales growth.
  • Providing direction to your sales and account management team.


About you

This role requires an enthusiastic, resourceful and organised Head of Business Development with the following:
