Nine Twenty's client are seeking a Lab Technician to be an integral member of the Quality Team, performing tasks essential to ensuring the quality of raw materials and product throughout their operations.

You will be involved in setting up a new Lab within a distillery, therefore experience in this field is highly desirable.

Your work responsibilities will include:

  • Providing analytical capability as required to maintain existing quality assessment and test regimes,

  • Assist with regulatory compliance for HSE, Scottish Water and SEPA as required (e.g. sampling and recording of effluent discharges)

  • Participate in complaint resolution

  • Support continued BRC and FEMAS accreditations

  • Drive quality improvements through collation, use and presentation of analytical data

  • Prepare, review and update quality procedures as applicable

  • Support product development

  • Liaison with external laboratories

Essential skills and experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a laboratory environment, preferably within the food and drinks sector

  • Demonstrable knowledge of the use of laboratory equipment including GC, UV/AA spectrometers and interpretation of results

  • Distilling qualifications (GCD / IBD) / Distillery experience preferable

  • Microbiological knowledge and application advantageous but not essential

  • Knowledge of Food Safety and Quality Management Systems (inc HACCP, BRC etc)

  • Previous experience in a quality role in a FMCG environment

You should be qualified in Chemistry or related Analytical Science subject (HND or above)
