Nine Twenty Engineering are delighted to be recruiting for ExxonMobil's UK operation as they look to hire a Machinery Maintenance Technician for their Fawley Refinery.

The Machinery Maintenance Technicians will join the team at the largest refinery in the UK, Fawley is a combined refining, lubricants and chemicals manufacturing site.

To be eligible for this role, you must have:

  • A good general education to at least GCSE level. 5 GCSEs should be of grades A-C and must include English Language, Maths and Science.
  • Craft / technical apprenticeship (preferably petrochemical industry)
  • Technical qualification (minimum BTEC)
  • Prior experience working as a Machinery Maintenance Technician within the petrochemical industry
  • High standards of safety, quality of work, timekeeping, maintenance of tools and equipment
  • the ability to perform a leadership role in an Esso and Contractor team
  • the ability to execute complex higher risk tasks
  • Practical problem solving skills


Job Role Responsibilities

The machinery maintenance technician undertakes machinery work to support Refinery Operations.

  • Ensures work is completed in accordance with relevant Refinery standards and procedures including review and input to Task Risk Assessments.
  • Follows Safe Working Practices
  • Follows Quality System and procedures
  • Fully uses permits and follows permit requirements.
  • Cleary understands the site Cardinal rules and fully adheres to them


Required Trade Competencies

  • Experience on removal, installation and repair of pumps / mechanical seals.
  • Experience of overhauling major compressors (reciprocating & centrifugal)
  • Experience of overhauling various types of gearboxes
  • Experience of overhauling steam turbines
  • Use of online equipment monitoring systems.
  • Use of laser alignment equipment.
  • Proven team & leadership skills

  • Maintains good communication at all times including via radio
  • Is supportive of a team approach
  • Sets an example and leads opinion of others through positive approach to the job, timekeeping and productivity
  • Acts as trainee mentor
  • Shows proven team & leadership skills
