Maintenance Engineering Manager - Glasgow

Our client who are leader in revolutionary diagnostic led care solutions are going through a huge expansion in the manufacture of their life saving medical devices. They are looking for an Maintenance Engineering Manager to join their facility based in Alloa or Eurocentral.

As a Maintenance Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for managing, motivating and developing a team of maintenance engineers ensuring maintaining site-wide equipment including all Manufacturing, Facilities and Lab equipment. You will create a planned, preventative & unplanned calibration tracking system and document via CMMS.  

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the application of the maintenance management process with respect to ISO 13485 and FDA CFR21
• Manage efficient response and repair to machine breakdowns.
• Manage & implement external service support contracts relating to both production equipment and facilities
• Plan & coordinate any required scheduled periods of shutdown for maintenance activities
• Manage & coordinate instrument calibration programs
• Assign individual annual appraisals, monitor and review maintenance engineers’ performance regularly.
• Manage a continuous improvement culture and relay to the maintenance team. 
• Manage the maintenance engineers in supporting any installation of new high-speed machinery through validation and into full production as required.
• Manage holidays, overtime, apply and administer company disciplinary procedures
• Identify critical spare parts, establish holdings, manage & maintain spares stocks
• Manage the maintenance engineers in writing new maintenance procedures for existing and new equipment and reviewing these on a regular basis.
• Communicate with Production manager, line leaders and quality engineers on machine, process issues.
• Give regular updates on maintenance issues & performance of the maintenance team to the Engineering Managers.
• You will work with equipment such as:
  • Vision inspection systems
  • Packaging equipment
  • Inkjet printers
  • Labelling systems
  • Variable Frequency Drives
  • Servos/Stepper Motors
  • Laser Cutters

Skills required:

• A proven technical background in a high-volume manufacturing environment utilising complex custom-built equipment - would consider candidates with experience in FMCG & Highly Regulated industries like Automotive, Aerospace, Biopharma, Medical etc. 
• A proven ability in Leadership, motivation and development of small team
• Ability to correctly identify & resolve equipment issues with the use of a range of aids and techniques.
• Computer literate with a good knowledge of MS Office products and CMMS.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders.
