Nine Twenty Engineering & Manufacturing are delighted to be working with our client who are recruiting for a Manufacturing Team Leader to join their site based in Perthshire.

As a Team Leader, the successful candidate will be responsible for a team of Process Operators to ensure they upkeep of processes and to ensure production plans are completed in a safe manner, to quality standards and to budgets. You will be responsible to ensure adherence to supervising compliance using a high level of visibility.

Our client is looking for a knowledgeable, skilled individual with excellent communication skills who is to execute standard processes and to ensure performance is consistent on a daily basis.

Continuous improvement is a key part to this role and they are looking for someone who can collaborate with others to ensure this is achieved.

They are looking for someone with the following Qualifications & Experience:

  • Previous Team Leader experience.
  • Previous exposure to high volume FMCG preferred.
  • A relevant management professional qualification is preferred.
  • Experience within a BRC accredited system is preferred.

They would like someone with the following knowledge:

  • Good working knowledge of Quality and H&S systems.
  • Good understanding of Lean manufacturing or critical processes and drivers of good manufacturing practice, including C-I tools, SMED, 5S, Kaizen etc.
  • Good knowledge of common software packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

And the following skills:

  • Proven track record in achieving results through teams through coaching, motivating and developing a team to improve engagement and meet increasing production demands.
  • Excellent organisational skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrable skill in decision making and good judgement in pressured situations.

You must be able to deliver the Cell Health & Safety standards:

  • Promote safe working and monitor for compliance, reducing risks, completion of accident reports

Performance Targets

  • Have a clear understanding of daily and weekly cell performance targets (volumes, line efficiencies and service priorities).
  • Utilise available resources to deliver required performance.
  • Monitor and report on real time performance.
  • Take prompt corrective action to address performance gaps. With appropriate escalation to mgt.

Deliver (execute) standard processes. Including, but not restricted to:

  • Asset care tasks assigned to the cell.
  • All hygiene procedures
  • Maintenance of skills/capability matrix and continuous training programmes
  • Housekeeping and 5S processes
  • Attendance at daily performance reviews (Visual Factory)
  • Shift start-up and handover procedures
  • Attendance and input into daily performance review meetings (Visual factory)
  • Operational Excellence – continuous improvement process
  • Confirmation processes

Communication

  • Develop a strong working relationship with each team member
  • Achieve an appropriate standard of communication with the Cell Leader
  • Carry out cell briefings
  • Providing required input into daily (Visual factory) performance meetings
  • Always follow up on actions assigned

Leadership and people development.

  • Deputise for Cell Leader (and other Team Leaders) as required
  • Support the PDR process; completing reviews to a high standard within the timetable
  • Identify and develop talent within the team. Coach and mentor individuals to meet their potential
  • Provide stability and encouragement to team members

Continuous improvement.

  • Undertake and complete C-I projects approved by the Cell Leader
  • Build collaborative relationships across functions to address downtime issues, to improve performance to targets and to drive continuous improvements
  • Promote a culture of C-I with team members by assigning Operators improvement actions
