Nine Twenty Engineering And Manufacturing are delighted to be working with a high end global supplier of leather upholstery products as they look to strengthen their senior management team with an Operations Manager within their Tannery operation in Renfrewshire; This is an attractive day shift role with responsibility for over 60 members of staff and 2 production supervisors.

The aim of this role is to ensure operational efficiency of day to day production ensuring all company procedures and compliances (both internal and External) are fully met and to ensure the day to day operations meets high quality standards of outputs consistently. To embed a culture of ownership and  continuous improvement product quality which results in meeting exceeding customer expectations

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Oversee the full end to end, delivery to despatch, production process
  • To ensure effective delivery of the Production Plan
  • Ensure that production  operates efficiently and effectively with a clear focus on cost effective controls
  • To ensure all products are produced to meet business requirements without compromising on quality
  • To control all compliances, regulations and guidelines as set out by Health, Safety, Environment and Quality both internally and externally
  • Forge effective working relationships with Chief Engineer, Group H&S Manager, Quality Controller and other support service functions
  • Ensure all maintenance programmes are fit for purpose and meet the needs of the business
  • To embed a Health & Safety culture of zero tolerance ensuring  the company H&S policy is fully implemented, understood and owned by each individual
  • To create an open and honest culture of communication between management and shop floor workers ensuring all direct employees are kept updated on operational activities and expectations
  • To motivate and encourage shop floor workers to deliver optimum results every time, take pride in what they do  and create a ‘can do will do’ culture
  • To develop the skills of supervisors
  • To identify training gaps and conduct a training needs analysis making recommendations to the Works Manager to up skills workers to deliver great results
  • To meet, review and monitoring all KPI’s both daily and weekly.
  • To continually improve Factory appearance at both plants
  • To support the Manufacturing Excellence team in both plants

KPI/Targets:

  • Delivers the production plan on time and within agreed costs
  • Improves working standards, quality and outputs
  • Embeds a zero tolerance Health and Safety culture
  • Improves general housekeeping standards and maintains them
  • Builds effective relationships across the business and makes use of expert/specialist functions
  • Produces and updates a skills matrix for all employees
  •  Collates and contributes to the Provision of KP/ productivity reports
