Nine Twenty are delighted to be working with our drinks manufacturing client in their need for a Packaging Quality Manager to join their team on a full time and permanent basis. 

Reporting to Head of Operations, you will be responsible to develop & maintain quality policies and procedures and ensure full compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. 

You will need to be Flexible - participating in activities & projects & travelling to other sites and suppliers.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage day to day activities of the packaging quality team 
  • Manage the site quality management & document control system (Q-Pulse)
  • Develop and implement a sustainable programme for audit, measurement and reporting of quality KPIs
  • Conduct supplier audits in alignment with internal policy and ensure supplier non-conformances are raise
  • Support 3rd party audits
  • Manage customer complaints through full root cause analysis and corrective action 
  • Develop and maintain full quality systems to ensure compliance with regulatory standards
  • Maintain FEMAS accreditation
  • Lead the multi-discipline site HACCP Team and lead review meetings as required
  • Ensure full training of staff 
  • Maintain regular contact with outside organisations to ensure the Company remain aware of new and future developments in all aspects of food safety and quality
  • Provide support to sales team and when required communicate directly with customers on product quality
  • Act as a gatekeeper for all new product development 
  • Lead the investigation of quality issues 
  • Lead Continuous Improvement (CI) projects 
  • Trend analysis of production and quality data, making recommendations for CI
  • Support line quality operations, including dry goods inspection and line checks
  • Create / update quality procedures and roll-out related training
  • Validation of packaging - ensuring trials and due diligence tests are completed on new packaging materials
  • Liaise with suppliers on project development work and new technologies
  • Managing specifications, drawings and all technical documentation related to packaging items
  • Administration of support systems 

Experience Required:

  • Quality experience, ideally within the food and drinks manufacturing environment.
  • Sound knowledge of BRC manufacturing requirements and HACCP principles.
  • Experience of working with glass, cork, cartons, rigid boxes and shippers
  • SVQ, HNC or HND in relevant discipline
  • Degree level education or equivalent experience
