Due to their continued growth & success, they are looking for an Product Design Engineer to join their team permanently to support in the management and development of the business product range and supporting throughout their lifecycle. You will be a key member of the engineering team and take ownership of their products to meet customer demands.

Responsibilities:

  • Management of the product portfolio from a technical point of view.
  • Product data management and product lifecycle management.
  • Application engineering to adapt existing designs to customer requirements.
  • Facilitate product and process improvement projects through product redesigns.
  • Design and build of test plans for products
  • Creation of technical documentation and processes 
  • Setup of product manufacturing processes with external suppliers 
  • Resolving technical issues with products through a root cause analysis (RCA) approach 
  • Manage change control processes 
  • Your main workflows include: Product development, Product and Business process introduction. Documentation creation, Supporting product technical requests and product configuration management.  

Skills required:

  • Engineering qualification essential 
  • Experience in product data and lifecycle management
  • Strong DFM/DFA experience in sheet metal, castings, machining, extrusions and plastics
  • Strong CAD and 2D Drafting skills (Solidworks)
  • Comfortable creating and managing Bill of materials
  • Design and processes evaluation experience including Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) or similar.
  • Highly organised with the ability to control multiple “moving parts” with excellent attention to detail to achieve high standards.
