Nine Twenty Engineering & Manufacturing are delighted to be working with our values driven Manufacturing client in their need for a Product Development Chemist to join their team permanently. 

Reporting directly to the Technical Manager you will be responsible for 2 direct reports - as a Product Development Chemist you will oversee and manage the product development function within our client's technical function. 

  • Liaise with sales staff to identify future product development projects.
  • Organise and oversee plant trials with appropriate levels of personnel coverage
  • Work with CI and Manufacturing teams ensuring product scale-up is a well-managed transition.
  • Provide technical expertise to sales, customer services and manufacturing.
  • Keep abreast of changes to raw materials both from a performance and legislative perspective.
  • Oversee junior staff ensuring their projects are managed efficiently and effectively.
  • Ensure new and existing products and processes are appropriately specified.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment of business objectives that drive quality improvement.

You will bring with you: 

  • Minimum of Honours Degree in Chemistry or a Technical Based Subject
  • Previous experience as a Chemist  in a manufacturing plant
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in new product development
  • Extensive knowledge of product quality and continuous improvement techniques
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong decision making capabilities 
  • Good leadership skills 
  • Good influencing skills 
  • Ability to cope with pressures and set backs
