Nine Twenty Engineering And Manufacturing are delighted to be working with a high end global supplier of leather upholstery products as they look to strengthen their senior management team with a Production Supervisor within their finishing plant in Renfrewshire; This is an attractive days/backshift role with responsibility for over 40 members of staff.

The aim of this role is to supervise, develop and execute production plan whilst ensuring production efficiencies are optimised and all  SOP, Safe Systems Of Work, and Technical Specification documents are adhered to. To lead, motivate and develop all personnel in area of responsibility to allow them to achieve their full potential. Pursue excellence and clarity in production scheduling and analysis and communicate clearly what is required of production team. Manage and control receipt and inputting of raw materials.

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Ensure that the machine operators have set up their machines correctly and all safety checks have been carried out.
  • Ensure all quality checks are being carried out by the machine operators such as substance, batch identification, trimming weights and area measurement.
  • Launching production batches from PRE-WIP when required.
  • Ensuring that all daily housekeeping standards are met and all team members participate in these activities.
  • Monitor and confirm productivity payments.
  • Responsible for ensuring all Health and Safety standards are achieved and any concerns are reported to line manager.
  • Carry out investigations for accidents, near misses, grievances and disciplinary matters promptly and thoroughly to ensure the correct outcome is achieved every time.
  • Ensure adequate personnel are available at all times to meet production targets and highlight any issues to line manager at the earliest opportunity.
  • Team player – work within the production team to deliver results.
  • Communicate clearly a detailed and daily analysis of WIP progression though factory with the clear goal of OTIF customer delivery.
  • Clearly communicate schedule demands of who, what and when to the production team. Monitor schedule adherence at key stages in process and highlight variances
  • Take ownership of production pod information re throughput targets


  • Quality of output – Zero tolerance to process defects.
  • Internal OTIF deliveries for department.
  • Production efficiency targets for hides per man hour and operations per man hour are achieved.
  • Meets customer specifications – meets all lab criteria.
  • Departmental rework, rejects and downgrade level are all within set limits for manufacturing faults.
  • Meets Health and Safety standards – Zero Tolerance.
  • OTIF performance updated and immediate priorities clearly communicated every day.
