Nine Twenty Engineering are delighted to be working on behalf of our Central Scotland based manufacturing client as they go through a further period of growth.

We’re looking to recruit two forward thinking and ambitious Production Supervisors, ideally, from a heavy engineering background; these roles have been created due to continued investment and increasing sales for a prolonged period.

This is a day shift role - Monday to Thursday with an earlier finish on a Friday and you'll be competitively remunerated. On top of this you’ll also be taking control of your own monthly production related bonus and theres opportunity to develop within the organisation. Main Tasks / Responsibilities:

  • Continuous Improvement
    • Work with the Lean Manufacturing team and other colleagues to increase flexibility and efficiency through a basic knowledge of 5S principles. To continually challenge and develop our process flows and methods of operating.
  • Service Management
    • Ensure the effective running of the assigned area of responsibility on a day-to-day basis and the development of the team and department to deliver the site’s Business Plan in line with Divisional/Group objectives to achieve service excellence. Includes co-ordination of work activities within the team, making appropriate decisions that make, both, internal and external customers happy and exceed expectations.
    • Lost & Damaged - Understands the cost impact of poor lost and damaged material controls and can demonstrate an improvement plan through good workplace organisation and house-keeping practice.
       
  • People Management
    • Performance management, absence management, disciplinary, grievance and reporting.
    • Aware of and can relate to: Budget hours, COP and build Hours and Monthly Plan for each contract and manage labour in line with targets in terms of numbers and skills and taking into account holiday and absence levels.
    • Identify, investigate and resolve any day-to-day general management issues that arise, supervising individuals as appropriate and supporting the team with queries and concerns to develop an environment of trust and support that will encourage engagement and individual development.
    • Fully understands the company's attendance management policy and reporting procedures. Demonstrates an ability to conduct effective Return To Work Interviews, liaise regularly with long term sick employees and take responsibility to manage team absence effectively with support from the HR team.
  • Learning and Development
    • Identify appropriate training in order to ensure that manpower is used flexibly, the useful skills and potential of individuals is realized and that product and/or process changes are implemented smoothly.
    • Motivate and encourage performance improvement. Where necessary take action where performance persistently or seriously falls below the standards required.
    • Support development programs and associated actions
  •  KPI/Reporting
    • Have an awareness of departmental KPI’s notably OTD, minimising NPT, quality, cost and waste.
    • Understands and drives the line move Takt times, can identify risk in advance and proactively install corrective actions.
    • Monthly Plan - Fully understands and demonstrates behaviour beyond respective area of direct responsibility ensuring alignment to the overall key milestones and contractual delivery requirements.
    • Contract Specification - Is fully aware of the product specification ahead of build. Understands implications in relation to Monthly Plan, customer requirements and labour loading
    • Information Access - Fully competent in the use of Job Control / Mod Tracker.
  • Build Hours & Build Quality
    • Build Hours - Able to demonstrate a control of build hours through respective area of responsibility and quickly identify any concerns where performance is short versus expectations. Fully understands how labour loading is calculated and the negative impact of overloading. Can evidently show improvement trends in assembly hours performance.
    • Build Quality - Works closely with QC inspection team, clear understanding of repetitive defects and can show installed actions to eliminate. Able to co-ordinate joint efforts with local and extended teams any field issues / customer dissatisfaction. Leads team right first time and challenges poor performance. Measure and monitor the quality performance of your area of responsibility and use this as a base for monitoring and where practical improving quality.
  • Communication
    • Capable of effective communication sessions to direct and extended team through tool-box meetings. Can demonstrate a sound understanding of the Visual Factory concept through line side stage boards being current with key measures clearly displayed.
    • Build strong relations with the team by sharing internal and external information.
    • To ensure a professional line is presented at all times, managing customer and site expectations as appropriate in line with the business priorities.
