We are delighted to be supporting our client to recruit a project engineer for their large and busy site based in Ayrshire. Due to an upcoming retirement, a rare opportunity has come up for an experienced project engineer who comes from an EC&I discipline to join the fast paced team. 

Project engineering roles in this business are rare to find as they offer candidates exposure from cradle to grave in the project so it does require a rare individual.....

You will be comfortable in running projects of all sizes and often multiple projects at anyone time, you will be able to work at the front end to source materials, manage initial contracts, keeping in line with budgets at all times. You will be confident in liaising with stakeholders across the business and externally and will be someone who is deadline driven. You will be a decision maker on the design aspect within your discipline and when your project is in action, you will be a presence on site to oversee delivery and deal with any issues then manage the project to completion.

Successful candidates should be Degree qualified within the required discipline, have extensive experience of managing projects within a process manufacture environment, be comfortable with financial/budgetary management, be a great communicator and relationship builder and be comfortable making decisions in a fast paced environment. Along with this, you must be comfortable using MS Office suite of products and be comfortable presenting. 

Some of technical expertise required as follows: 

• Familiarity with DCS, SCADA and PLC infrastructure in a manufacturing environment;
• Experience of High Voltage infrastructure and modifications to existing networks;
• Specification of instrumentation;
• Ability to perform electrical related calculations on software such as AMTECH;
• AutoCAD user skills;
• Experience in working on legacy replacement projects;
• IOSH qualification;
• MS Project basic user;
• Review and approval of specialist sub-contract supply;
• Familiarity with creating electrical specifications (LV/HV);
• Functional Safety Engineer qualification/experience desirable, not essential;
• Experience participating in HAZOP/LOPA;
• Experience working in hazard and safety critical environments (e.g. COMAH)
• COMPEX/DSEAR experience.
• Capability of liaising with other disciplines such as mechanical/piping/civils to be able to integrate into a broader project.
