Nine Twenty Engineering are delighted to be working with our Glasgow based, global manufacturing client to recruit a Project Engineer within a heavy engineering environment.

You will have the responsibility for managing the engineering scope or Heavy engineering projects ensuring delivery of a safe and technically compliant product in line with local processes and procedures within the QCD targets.

For your projects the responsibilities are:

  • Reports operationally to the Project Manager and functionally to the Project Engineering Manager
  • Interfaces with Project Manager and assists in generation, production and update of project engineering plans
  • Manages the DFQ implementation to obtain a GO status in accordance with the project planned dates.
  • Acts as the main interface with production engineering, production and site on technical issues.
  • Manages documentation in line with local procedures – including archiving.
  • Monitors engineering plans to ensure work is on time and to cost
  • Ensures engineering follow project processes and procedures
  • Ensures all Engineering output meets the technical and safety requirements of the customer and all relevant standards
  • Interfaces with Design Manager (where applicable) and assists in resolution of technical issues
  • Resolves project resource issues in conjunction with Project Engineering Manager
  • Assists tendering with design/production of work packages for similar products
  • Production of technical tenders for tender submission
  • Production of engineering work packages and costs for technical tenders
  • Contributes to R&D planning and implementation
  • Contributes to local ROE and validation process to ensure ROE across different projects
  • Contributes to local improvement activities

Education Requirements/Person Specification

  • History of managing multi disciplined Engineering teams to budget and time constraints
  • Refurbishment of rail or vehicle interiors
  • Knowledge and understanding of railway standards and approvals
  • Use and application of PC based project planning tools e.g. Microsoft Project etc.
  • Customer facing role
  • Minimum HNC in a mechanical discipline
  • Membership of professional body

A degree level education and a history of Rail or Automotive engineering and approvals would be preferred.
