Nine Twenty Engineering are delighted to be recruiting for the world's largest publicly traded international Oil & Gas Company as they look to hire a number of qualified and experienced Project Engineers with Instrument, Civil, Electrical or Mechanical experience to join their European Regional Projects Centre (ERPC) based at the Fawley site, near Southampton, which is the largest and most technically complex refining and petrochemical facility in the UK.

On top of an industry leading salary, they also offer world leading benefits, including, defined benefit pension scheme, share incentive plan, private health care for employees and their families and, where applicable, relocation assistance; all of this and professional development for their staff.

This is the only interview you will ever need to attend!

Job Role Responsibilities

The Project Engineer is the primary link between Project Management and the various technical disciplines involved in the successful development and delivery of a broad range of projects at the site. The key responsibilities are to:

  • Provide input into the project development process to ensure that practical, cost effective solutions are established at the outset

  • Manage the front end engineering and early procurement activities to ensure the project scope and cost is optimised prior to full project appropriation (funding)

  • Lead the execution stage of the project, ensuring that the management of detailed engineering and procurement of equipment are consistent with the project construction objectives of safety, quality, cost and schedule

  • Coordinate with the site organisation to ensure that the completion, handover and start-up of the facilities takes place efficiently and effectively

The ERPC provides a project development and execution service to the Fawley complex as well as providing support to their refining and chemical facilities in the broader European and Middle East region. Longer term international career opportunities, therefore, exist for high performing candidates in all project disciplines on both a regional and global basis.

Expected Level of Proficiency

To be eligible for this role you must:

  • Hold either an engineering degree or a Higher National Diploma (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (e.g. Chemical, Mechanical, Instrumentation, Electrical, Controls, Civils)

  • Be, or be working towards being, a Chartered Engineer in your discipline, as defined by the relevant Institution and Engineering Council (or equivalent)

  • Have relevant project engineering experience (five years+ as a guide), preferably in the downstream petrochemical industry, in one or more of the following areas: project development; front end engineering and early procurement activities; project execution; and / or project completion and handover. Candidates with less than five years’ experience, but who have a high degree of relevant industry experience will also be considered.

Candidates should also have demonstrated work experience and / or knowledge of managing third party relationships and work delivery e.g. working with external engineering procurement companies.

Successful candidates should possess a broad range of personal effectiveness and leadership skills, with the ability to facilitate and influence business decisions in a team environment.
