Nine Twenty are delighted to be working with our Glasgow based, heavy Engineering  manufacturer as they look to hire a new Quality Assurance Engineer into their business during this continued period of investment in their manufacturing facility and as they prepare for growth.

My client is a global leader in the design and manufacture of engineered hydrodynamic bearings and magnetic bearing systems for high-performing turbo-machinery. They feed into multiple industries, but namely in to oil & gas, power generation, marine and industrial markets.

The main scope of this role is for the Quality Assurance Engineer plans, executes, and supports activities to maintain and improve the organisations quality system to assure business, and  manufacturing processes, inspection methods and quality documentation meets or exceeds established Quality Policy and customer’s requirements. 

You will monitor processes, and initiate improvements focused on lowering overall costs of quality and meeting customer satisfaction demands by performing the following duties:


The responsibilities of this position fall into three main areas: Quality management, Customer Support, Process Implementation and Improvement.

Supplier Quality Management:

  • Lead, Support and Develop Supplier Management processes.
  • Interact with supplier on all quality issues and develop preventative action plan.
  • Audit, Qualify and Support Supplier on all quality and continuous improvement projects and activities.

Production Quality management:

  • Supports/leads continuous improvement activities (PDCA).
  • Develop and support implementation of improvement actions to improve quality of product/process.
  • Develop Quality Plans.
  • Support Customer Complaint Investigation and Problem Resolution.
  • Support inspection, develop and promote In-process Quality.

Quality Management:

  • Support Internal and External Audits to ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 9001: 2015
    Create, develop and improve internal processes and procedures.
  • Support Calibration.
  • Support Customer and supplier



  • Minimum HND or degree in a relevant engineering quality or manufacturing discipline (mechanical preferably).
  • Formal ISO 9001: 2015 Certification  (Lead assessor advantageous)


  • Health and Safety formal training.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing methodologies and tools.
  • Problem solving techniques.
  • Sound working Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work and operate with minimum supervision.
  • Knowledge and experience of machining, metrology and metallurgy and ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Sound knowledge of all Microsoft packages with an excellent command of Excel.
