Nine Twenty is delighted to be recruiting for a Quality Engineer for our Glasgow based client.

The purpose of the position is to:

Assist & lead individual projects in order to deliver significant improvements to quality, cost, and delivery - continuous improvement. Develop sampling protocols, test methods & product specifications. Drive raw materials and finished goods performance. A good understanding of production capability and the requirements of customers. 

Technical Expertise

  • You will be expected to gain a level of knowledge and expertise across the production capabilities.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support in developing, documenting, validating and implementing a testing strategy (frequency and methodology) for critical raw materials, production intermediates & finished products, including qualification of new/alternative raw materials.
  • Provide trend analysis for key raw materials in order that the business can adequately rate suppliers and leverage its purchasing position. 
  • Provide trend analysis on key measurement criteria on selected raw materials, production intermediates and finished goods to support continuous improvement in product quality across all production processes.
  • Provide trend analysis on key measurement criteria of finished goods to support customer Quality and Supplier Performance Audits.
  • Ensure the timely completion of internal and external non-compliance report investigation 
  • Provide knowledge, skills and support to the NPI team to ensure that Quality Assurance is a key component in the risk mitigation strategy during new product introduction.
  • Identify opportunities to drive down Cost of Poor Quality through the site, looking to meet and exceed targets.
  • Produce reports for the management team as and when required.
  • Support during 3rd Party audits.
  • Ensure compliance with all documented quality systems, as per business requirements i.e. ISO9001/14001, BRC, FSC requirements.
  • Carry out internal audits to support the business quality systems, agreeing effective corrective and preventative actions with department heads where appropriate.
  • Supporting continuous improvement activities: Utilise DFMEA/PFMEA and other quality assurance risk analysis techniques in order to minimise potential risk during manufacturing activity.

  • Adhere to Company Safety, Hygiene, Environmental & Quality policies and procedures
  • Create and maintain a safe and clean environment for people working in the lab


  • HND/Degree preferably in a physical science, engineering or packaging discipline

Knowledge, Skills & Experience required for the role.....

  • Experience of working in a technical role within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience of working in the premium drinks industry advantageous.
  • Technical experience within the print, paper and packaging industry would be advantageous
  • Problem Solving techniques
  • Knowledge of data and statistical analysis techniques
  • Knowledge of quality assurance/control procedures
  • Knowledge and understanding of LEAN manufacturing
  • Excellent communication skills,
  • Customer relations skills (internal and external),
  • Full driving license
