They require a qualified and experienced Refinery Optimisation Engineer to join their team at Fawley Refinery and Chemical Plant.

Job Role Summary

We are currently seeking Refinery Scheduling Engineers experienced in the use of software such as Orion or MBO to join the ExxonMobil Engineering Europe team at six of their European refineries.

Job Role Responsibilities

Refinery Scheduling Engineers are responsible for providing specialist application consulting and technical support for both existing facilities and new projects in the areas of automation and optimisation.

The key responsibilities are to:

  • Provide in depth technical leadership and support to ExxonMobil facilities through troubleshooting, work process review and best practice implementation.
  • Develop and deliver technical training and best practice standards for Supply / Coordination groups within ExxonMobil
  • Facilitate and participate in team and user sessions globally.

 

ExxonMobil Engineering Europe is the European Area Engineering Office of ExxonMobil Research & Engineering Ltd, which is headquartered in the USA. It's role is to provide expert technical consulting and project support to ExxonMobil refineries and chemical plants in Europe and the Middle East, as well as Asia Pacific, North America and Canada on occasions.

The role will be based at one of ExxonMobil’s European refineries: Antwerp in Belgium; Gravenchon in France; Augusta or Trecate in Italy; Rotterdam in the Netherlands; or Fawley in the UK.

 

You will be asked for your location preference on the application form.

 

To be eligible for this role, you must:

  • Hold a degree in chemical engineering, computer engineering or an equivalent subject.
  • Be; be working towards being; or be prepared to work towards being, a Chartered Engineer, as defined by the Engineering Council or equivalent.
  • Have relevant experience with Aspentech optimisation and scheduling tools, ideally Orion and MBO, in the refining industry (ten years+ as a guide). Candidates with less than ten years’ experience, but who have a high degree of relevant industry experience will also be considered.
  • Have strong IT skills, specifically being able to demonstrate a good level of knowledge of programming to include Visual Basic (6 and .NET), plus good working knowledge of SQL (MS SQL Server).

 

Candidates should also have demonstrated work experience and / or knowledge of:

  • Proactively applying engineering and problem solving skills to develop cost effective plant application strategies and work process assessments.
  • Being highly proactive with the user community to deliver increased value using a measured risk approach.
