Nine Twenty Engineering are delighted to be supporting our global manufacturing client. They are looking to hire a Sales Manager to drive the Automated System sales. This role is HQ'd in Leicester. The role is key to this business unit and will report into the Global Sales Director. This role will suit a very specific type of sales professional. You really must have a strong sales background, finding new business, growing existing business, delivering on leads and closing sales. Experience of working with multiple cultures will be key to success. This is a global role working predominantly with customers across the European Territory.You wont be a stranger to travel and this role will see you on the move 60/70% of time.

You will be responsible for executing a sales strategy by providing market development, direct selling and strategic sales tactics to effectively develop and obtain Automated Systems business within the market segments for which you have been assigned.



Business/Market Development

  • Develops and maintains an Industry Business Plan for assigned focus market/industry or regional segment(s). Outlines and details the assigned marketplace and the actions necessary to increase Automated Systems sales within the segment.
  • Develops specific actions, both long- and short-term, on building and maintaining a network of contacts and providing current market intelligence for the industry.
  • Coordinates activities with other group division sales efforts on a national and international level.

Inquiry Development

  • Performs complete account management including but not limited to follow up, tracking and reporting of all inquiries.

Order Conversion

  • Accountable for forecasting and obtaining orders/contracts within assigned focus market(s).
  • Provides reports and forecasts, as required.

Account Maintenance & Growth

  • Provides ongoing sales and technical support for current and future business customers.
  • Serves as the liaison between the customer and engineering and leads the development of new system proposals.
  • Assists Product Service and Support staff with the development of system expansion or enhancement proposals.
  • Maintains a high level of ongoing communication with key decision makers / influencers within the accounts.

Organisational Responsibilities  

  • Prepares and submits monthly reports, as required.
  • Obtains necessary customer paperwork to finalise order entry into the company system.  
  • Works closely with the Applications Engineering Manager and staff to assure all necessary applications data is provided in the form of an Applications Engineering Request Form (AERF), which initiates the sales proposal development process.
  • Prepares presentations and materials for company executives and managers.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in engineering or business; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Strong presentation and written communication skills.  Ability to read, analyse, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to write speeches and write articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Other Competencies

  • Must operate with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems and manage variables in situations where only limited standardization or guidance exists.
  • Managing multiple priorities and workload demands.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent sales projects. 
  • Demonstrated industry-related experience, preferred.
  • Detail oriented with a “root cause” driven approach to solutions
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio)
  • Knowledge of AutoCad and/or Salesforce, a plus.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% (domestic and international)
  • Ability to work in an international sales environment; fluency in a foreign language a plus.
  • Strong mechanical-electrical aptitude
  • Current valid driver’s license.
