My client is a leading organisation in the FMCG market who is seeking an experienced senior Purchasing officer to join their busy team. It is a fast paced environment and someone who has the ability to work on their own initiative as well as part of this team. You should be autonomous, proactive and determined to succeed and have excellent business and data analysis capability and excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills. 

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Utilise the purchasing system in an efficient manner ensuring all criteria are adhered to/
  • Ensure that accurate pricing and material specifications are in place to assist with the sourcing and development of category materials.
  • Minimise dry materials stock holding in the supply chain while ensuring that MRP requirements are achieved.
  • Ensure that category materials are ordered in line with MRP.
  • Ensure that forecast requirements are aligned to agreed lead times, specification, quality and are available for agreed bottling requirements.
  • Accountable for KPI set.
  • Build effective relationships with suppliers and internal departments.
  • Represent the Purchasing Department at planning, scheduling and production meetings etc, both internal and external, adding value through participation.
  • Utilise specialist category technical skills and experience to deliver cost effective packaging development solutions to NPD and production requirements.
  • Drive business improvement practices aligned to the excellence management systems.
  • Deliver process and systems improvement within the team.

Ideal candidates will should have/be:

  • Understand best practice in manufacturing.
  • Have experience in FMCG manufacturing
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
  • Previous experience working with 3rd party suppliers.
  • Excellent business and data analysis capabilities.
  • Advanced IT competency including SAP, Excel Pivot Tables and analysis tools.
  • Self-motivated and capable of autonomous working.
  • Excellent presentation skills with an ability to effectively communicate essential information.
  • Experienced in mini-business meetings that drive 5S, team work, visual management and FI.
