The North British Distillery company are one of the UKs largest grain Whisky producers. The company is steeped in heritage and they are extremely proud of their history and core company values.

The business is going through an exciting period of change and have been working on a modernisation programme. They now have an opportunity for a Warehouse Operations Manager to be based in their facility in Muirhall to assist the Company by efficiently and effectively leading the warehouse operations, ensuring that their system of production meets both company and customer expectations with an overarching  focus on maintaining operational excellence and a safe working environment

This is an important role where you will be responsible for leading change across the site through developing people and processes in conjunction with the wider Company strategy.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that all warehousing operations on the Muirhall site meet the necessary health and safety requirements, complying with current legislation to maintain a safe working environment for employees.
  • Effective line management and leadership to motivate and inspire great performance from all direct reports.
  • Working closely with the planning function to ensure that any threats to deliver the schedule are addressed effectively.
  • Communicating and developing the warehouse’s operational objectives, incorporating them into strategic plans and reviews through information and recommendations.
  • Supporting systems improvements by monitoring workflow, demand for manpower and utilisation of space, and layout of stock and equipment, implementing changes where required.
  • Preparing and implementing production and quality plans, based on the Company’s customer service standards.
  • Supervising the day to day running of all on site operations, responding calmly and decisively to any challenges that arise within the warehousing process. 
  • Assist the business in developing a culture that embraces LEAN initiatives. Drive a culture of empowerment with excellent visual management, effective update meetings and KPI reporting
  • Maintaining an awareness of the regulatory and Company standards which apply to my role.


This is a real opportunity to make a difference in your role and roles like these do not often become available. To be successful you should:


  • Be degree qualified
  • Hold NEBOSH certificate
  • IOSH certificate
  • Have extensive warehouse management experience (FMCG/Process)
  • Solid knowledge of LEAN principles
  • CI Experience and ideally hold a Green or Yellow belt
  • Hold business to business experience
  • Knowledge of employment law
  • Hold strong leadership skills and be able to demonstrate past experience in developing, coaching and leading teams through change (direct and indirect reports)
  • Strong PC skills
  • Safety, permit to work, risk assessment experience (ideally in COMAH)
