Nine Twenty Engineering and Manufacturing are looking for an experienced Workshop Manager with fabrication, welding and Structural Steel experience, who will need to be capable of coordinating the day to day the running’s of a busy heavy engineering workshop. The ideal candidate would be a time served Fabricator / Welder with a number of years of direct management experience. This role will will be based at my clients site north of Stirling.

This is a well-established company, serving a range of sectors including Drinks, FMCG and construction. They have seen heavy and continued investment in the past 12 months and they have an outstanding reputation for delivering excellent quality of workmanship; this is an opportunity to join an ambitious company where you will play a major role in their planned growth.

You will lead from the front and also get involved in ensuring targets are met. Ensuring that all standards and time scales are delivered, you will have the chance to develop the department and play a key part in the growth. Computer literacy is essential as are strong people management skills and a good attention to detail.

Experience required for this role

  • In depth understanding of Welding and Fabrication processes
  • Experience of heavy mechanical engineering and fabrication processes
  • Extensive supervisory management in an engineering workshop.


Responsibilities

  • Work closely with CAD engineers to produce accurate drawings to work to
  • Create full detailed sheet for the welders
  • Manage the shopfloor staffs time and streamline all processes
  • Responsible for workshop cost centre
  • Drive improvements on quality control and final inspection prior to dispatch
  • Maintaining high levels of Health and Safety and awareness
  • Ensure the highest levels of Fabrication and Weld Quality are maintained
  • Constantly review workshop practices and develop ideas to reduce manufacturing time and cost
  • Ensure operators are adequately trained and the required level of flexibility is maintained
  • Schedule production and assign work to a skilled multi-disciplined team ensuring high levels of workmanship.
